Confirmation that the 4th season of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup will be contested in 2010 will set computer keyboards around the world clattering as ambitious teens complete the online applications that could make their racing careers.
Applications are now open with a closing date of Sunday, September 20th, 2009, 23:59 CET.
A flood is expected as the Rookies Team already has recorded interest from a huge number of potential candidates who will be notified that the application form has now been posted. Through the 3 seasons of the Cup the level of competition has steadily increased and the Selection Process has been tightened this year with applications being sought from teenagers with high performance motorcycle experience. Applicants will add proof of racing success to their forms but this not limited to road racers as motocrossers, dirt trackers, speedway and any other speed-sport competitors are very welcome.
The most promising Applicants will be invited to a single Selection Event in Europe on October 6th 2009. From that day of testing a very small number will be invited to join the Rookies Cup for 2010.
While the best of this year's Rookies like Jakub Kornfeil and Sturla Fagerhaug look to continue their careers in the 125 World Championship that have already begun this season, many of the others will remain in the Cup for another season until the best of them can also make the GP step.
The calendar for the 2010 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup has yet to be finalised but it will continue to run alongside the majority of the European GPs and is due to start next year in Jerez at the Spanish Grand Prix.
